Garden Gate Floral is a small floral and interior decorating company based out of New Brighton, MN. Instead of competing with the big boys on price and warehouse space, this unique boutique offers a very personal touch with one-of-a-kind floral arrangements and thoughtful interior designs. The identity system for Garden Gate Floral had to accomplish two seemingly contradictory goals. It needed to look different from the FTDs while retaining elements that would identify it as a floral company. To accomplish this, the first thing was to create an appropriate logo/symbol. Over 500 sketches were produced before a final logo was decided upon. An old style lowercase "g" was used as the inspiration for the logo due to its fluid floral characteristics. The muted green was chosen to reflect the company's elegance and refined aesthetic. The application of the logo was extended as a repeated motif throughout the identity system. This was done to emulate the visual stylings of the Art Nouveau period of the early 20th century. |
